honor to whom honor is due

Genesis 43:11 NKJV

“And their father Israel said to them, “If it must be so, then do this: Take some of the best fruits of the land in your vessels and carry down a present for the man—a little balm and a little honey, spices and myrrh, pistachio nuts and almonds.”

Joseph in Egypt had detained Simeon when the ten sons of Jacob had gone to buy grain. They didn’t know he was the one. He insisted they bring their youngest brother to prove their story. Jacob couldn’t hear of it. But the famine was severe and they needed to go back to Egypt.

Even in such dire circumstances, the famine in the land, and the stress of having to send his youngest son, Jacob knew what to do. Send an honor gift to this “difficult but important man” who had detained his son and wanted another. He didn’t know it was his own son.

In the midst of pressure and difficulties, do you still give honor to whom honor is due?
