Choose Faith

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

One morning while having a chat with one of my wise friends, Abraham, we talked about making fear fear us. It occurred to us that the reason why we do not do most things we want to do is because of fear.

People in the world are driven by one of two things; FAITH or FEAR. Fear is an unpleasant feeling triggered by the perception of danger, real or imagined. Faith, on the other hand, is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1 NKJV) Do you see the contrast?

Take a moment and think through your life. Of the few or many things that you have wanted to do but have never done, how many of them have you failed to do because of fear? You can’t continue living by fear. That does not mean you will not have reasons to fear but even when those reasons to fear come up, choose to have faith. Romans 10:17 tells us that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. So what does the Word of God say?

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9 NKJV

“Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!”
Psalm 27:14 NKJV

All these promises are based on the fact that God loves us and has provided for us to not be afraid but instead trust Him to take us through whatever is happening in our lives.

”There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.”
1 John 4:18 NKJV

Choose this day how you shall live; by faith or by fear. Pick up your Bible, read about the promises God has made concerning you and declare them over and over again. And remember, God loves you.
