A Brief History of Worship Harvest Ministries

1989       Uncle Ben and Auntie Joyee start Come Alive Program at St Francis Chapel, Makerere; bringing together youth in their high school vacation to explore life, relationships and ministry.

1996       Moses Mukisa joins Come Alive 96 under the leadership of Patrick Muinda.

1999       After the three year course guys leave, Moses is left to lead Come Alive 96.

1999       Moses breaks the norm and recruits non 96ers into Come Alive 96. These include people like Samalie Akongo, Eunice Adubango, Richard Zigudde, Edward Mwesigye, Philip nsaale among others.

2000       Moses gets a vision of calling back former comealivers from different churches and backgrounds to something bigger and better focused.

2000       On Dec 01, Comealive Ministries is born with the first meeting at FOCUS Mulago. Some key recruits included Timothy Sebalamu, Paulo Mugarura, Martin Ndifuna, Marcus Kiryowa, Alan Kisitu in addition to those who had joined earlier. There’s a buzz!

2003       Comealive Ministries is renamed Worship Harvest to end the confusion between this and the already existing Come Alive program.

2005       On October 18th, Moses gets a vision of Worship Harvest as a church, raising people to fulfill the vision that started five years earlier. Many discussions ensue!

2006       In January, a decision is made to start the church with some team members going for it and others returning to their home churches. This is without the blessing of the St Francis leadership. We adopt the name House of Praise to give room for those who felt they could continue with Worship Harvest.

2006       The team uses Omega Healing Centre as a brief stop home church as we prepare to launch. We attended services and led worship at OHC for three months. We had our own small groups going.

2006       On April 2nd, We hold our first Sunday Service at Al Fiesta restaurant on Lumumba avenue. House of Praise is born. The place has since changed to Chong Qing!

2006       In September, after much suppression by management, we leave Chong Qing and move to Kati Kati. What a blessing… and space!

2007       On September 30th, Moses is moved by the Spirit to go and attend service at St Francis. As it turns out, it is Uncle Ben’s last day as Chaplain. Lynnet led worship. He invites Moses to the front before his last official sermon and gives the blessing.

2007       We adopt the Purpose Driven Church model.

2008       We start a system of leadership by Elders.

2010       We identify and start the process of buying a piece of land in Naalya. Slightly less than an acre.

2011       Final payment is made on the Naalya land and construction begins. On April 3rd, the anniversary celebrations are held there.

2011       On September 11, the first official service is held in Naalya under a tent. Worship Harvest is now in two locations. The future is history!
